Wedding Photography Training Course | Flash Photography Training
During the workshop I will be teaching and demonstrating my wedding photography techniques and shooting as I would at. a real wedding. We’ll be using Speedlites just as I do on wedding days to create my own wedding off camera flash photographs. All the advice is real world and works day in, day out to create stunning wow images regardless of location, weather and the many obstacles wedding photography throws at us. We will look at how we control the environment, the lighting, and create the finished photograph
What you’ll be covering on this workshop
- Off Camera Flash – From theory to practical we’ll cover how our flashes work and how we can maximise their output creating balanced photographs mixing natural light and flash
- Goto Settings for Camera and Flash – A proven formula I’ve used for many years which removes the maths and complications from flash photography allowing you to create stunning images quickly and with ease
- Creative flash ideas, from veils to silhouettes we’ll use our flashes to create a number of wow images
- Twilight and after dark. Go to settings and how we work after dark on a wedding day, a slightly different workflow to our day time wedding photography
- Composition and pose – during each set up we’ll discuss the pose and composition to give you a better understanding of how we have mixed the lighting location and pose.
Off Camera Flash for creating wow
Simplifying the process to create wow – Taking the flash off the camera allows us to really push our creativity and produce those big, stunning photographs that will not only sell well in wedding albums and wall art but help you consistently create stunning images that will make you stand out from the competition. During the photography sessions I’ll discuss my ideas about composition for albums and how and why I shoot as I do.
I’ll explain my simple process and flash workflow which provides go to settings for camera and flash you can use in the real world at your weddings and portrait sessions.
All our flash images are taken with just speedlights, we don’t use any other external lighting equipment on a wedding day and will teach you to achieve the maximum potential from these little flash guns. During the day you’ll be able to use our flashes and triggers, we have triggers for all popular brands of cameras.

creating easy Silhouettes
simply easy to create and amazing results – we’ll show you how to create these simple wedding photographs and talk through the requirements to create a great image exploring the lighting requirements, pose and composition of the final photograph.
Sunset photographs
– (weather dependent) – A short burst of colour that we have to maximise to create a set of amazing images on the wedding day. One of the shortest sessions of the day on a real wedding the sunset is an opportunity to quickly create a number of different but equally amazing images. Our quick and easy to use techniques will help you master this crucial time.
Night shoot including creating ‘The Brolley Shot’
Once the light drops we are outdoors with our bride and grooms to create atmospheric images with the venue as our backdrop. During this session we’ll use video light and flash to create the final pages of the wedding album. Night time images always work in the wedding album and further increase sales as great products for your bride and groom’s wall. During this set up we’ll also look at creating the Brolley shot, probably the best tool in a photographer’s arsenal for creating wow shots on those wet rainy days with techniques which work in daylight and asfter dark.
