CHOOSE YOUR OWN AGENDA AND PLAN
Unlike a regular workshop where the whole day is guided and structured, the Keys to the Castle event will offer you the freedom to choose your own agenda from the extensive list of photography sessions available. A superb way to practice, hone your skills and build an impressive portfolio with our models. Most classes are free to join, we’ll have a number of limited place masterclass sessions with myself. The day will be split into four sessions, similar to a school day but you’ll choose and plan your own day and agenda. The final session plan will be sent out a couple of weeks before to help, but you’ll have freedom on the day to change your sessions as you wish. There’ll be plenty of models available to work with and help you create an impressive and varied portfolio.

Wedding photography inside the castle
The grand staircase sweeping down to the Great Hall or the magnificent drawing room with it’s centrepiece fireplace and chandelier.

FLASH TRAINING
Flash training creating drama and wow with the stunning castle and grounds as our backdrop.
Flash training will be split into two sessions. An indoor and outdoor session, each free to join session will wok with a bridal model to create stunning images in a fast and easy to set up workflow
Photshop and Lightroom
A free to join zoom session after the workshop where I’ll edit live a number of images from the day. Recording access will be available to watch if you can’t make it live.
MasterClasses- LIMITED PLACES
Masterclasses will feature training as a small group and are available to pre-book as part of Keys to the Castle. Places are limited and these often popular classes will book quickly. The night shoot is available to book now Drone Photography will be available for all and is free to join on the day, you’ll just need your drone, flyer ID and proof of insurance.

The Castle at night
November 13th 1700-2300 £125 per delegate
Limited places, the Night shoot begins at 1700 around 60 minutes after sunset. We’ll create a series of images with the castle and grounds as our backdrop using a mix of lighting including LED and off camera flash. To attend the night shoot you must also book the day. The session will also include smoke, sparklers and Champagne sprays
Drone Wedding PhotograpHY
There’ll be a flying zone at the Castle for you to use and create wedding photographs with our models from a whole new perspective. (You’ll need your own drone and flyer ID for this and is weather permitting)

Where to stay – there is no accommodation available at the castle but 5 minutes down the road is the Bridge Inn at Wetherby ( www.thebridgewetherby.co.uk) and a little further on the A1 is a Days inn at Wetherby Services. Nearby are also Premier Inns, Travelodges and for anyone wishing to indulge or treat their other half Rudding Park Hotel and Spa is only a few miles away.
Who can book– This course will cater for skill levels from intermediate to advanced. A good working knowledge of your camera and settings are essential to maximise the learning opportunities of this day.
Equipment Required – Camera with lenses from wide angle to around 200mm would be of the most benefit along with a speedlite for use on camera, lighting for personal use during non masterclass sessions is recommended. Tripod for night shoots. Triggers and flashes for master classes are included.
Getting here – Close to the A1 Allerton Castle is easily accessible by car, the nearest train station is Selby and the nearest airports are Leeds/Bradford and Newcastle. There is no accommodation available at Allerton Castle but there are hotels in the nearby the towns of Wetherby, Harrogate and Knaresborough as well as hotels nearby on the A1 at Wetherby services.
